‘Bleeding’ web pages

Bleed is a common design technique found in print. It means that the photos or graphics bleed over the edge of a page and are trimmed in the last stage of print production so they can cover the whole page. But bleed in digital?

Images are extended over the margin on a larger screen and trimmed on a device with a smaller screen.

To break a rigid column of content I’ve pushed images a little outside, over the margin area. I could’ve just made the text column narrower but then I’d have a wasted space. I think it tuned out pretty awesome.
